Marvi Matos Rodriguez, Senior Vice President of Technology at Zap Energy

We’re pleased to announce that Marvi Matos Rodriguez has joined Zap Energy as Senior Vice President of Technology. She brings exceptional leadership in complex systems engineering from the highest levels of aerospace innovation, with a commitment to safety and technical excellence that aligns directly with Zap Energy's work bringing fusion energy to the grid.

Most recently, Matos Rodriguez directed a 600+ person organization at Boeing managing systems engineering, integration, test, and digital transformation across some of the industry's most demanding platforms. She led Boeing's company-wide Design Practices initiative, overseeing the creation and coordination of people, processes, training, tools, and authored practices across the ecosystem.

Prior to joining Boeing, she served as director of the crew capsule engineering team at Blue Origin and led verification work aligned with the first human flight of the New Shepard rocket.

Matos Rodriguez currently serves on the National Science Board which establishes the policies of the U.S. National Science Foundation, and serves as advisor to Congress and the President. She is an award-winning scientist who holds nine U.S. patents, and taught chemical engineering courses at the University of Washington, where she led Gates Foundation-funded bioengineering research developing novel diagnostic tools.

Matos Rodriguez earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, a M.S. in Colloids, Polymers and Surfaces and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and an Executive MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management.

Combined with her deep sense of mission and service, her experience scaling complex engineering organizations and driving innovation through additive manufacturing, AI, and digital transformation will be invaluable as the company accelerates toward commercial fusion.
