Zabrina Johal serves as Chief Executive Officer of Zap Energy, where she is leading the commercialization of an integrated portfolio of next-generation fission, hybrid, and fusion technologies to deliver scalable, reliable, carbon-free power.
Johal's experience spans more than two decades of leadership in defense, advanced nuclear technology, and global energy markets. She began as a U.S. Naval Nuclear Officer, leading reactor operations aboard a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. She then spent 19 years at General Atomics, directing strategic growth, technology investment, and commercialization across advanced energy programs. Most recently, at AtkinsRéalis, she helped shape strategy for a $2.2 billion global nuclear portfolio spanning North America, Europe, and the Middle East, including the global CANDU reactor fleet.
Driven by a passion for practical energy solutions, she has dedicated her career to strengthening energy security, meeting rising global demand, and reducing emissions. Her work has centered on transforming complex, first-of-a-kind technologies into deployable systems by aligning technical innovation with capital, policy, and commercial execution.
